Super Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Okoh Boniface is on the radar of Premier League moneybags Newcastle United, Footynaija.com reports.

Newcastle are currently sounding out potential replacement options for their in-form striker Alexander Isak whose prolific output this season has made him the subject of numerous speculation ahead of the summer.

According to German outlet BILD, Newcastle United have shown interest in Boniface, who almost joined Ronaldo’s Al Nassr in the January transfer window before the Saudi Pro League side’s sudden u-turn.

As the Magpies prepare for the summer transfer window, they are actively searching for a striker due to uncertainties surrounding the futures of Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak. Consequently, the Nigerian forward has emerged as a potential target for Eddie Howe’s men.

Newcastle United have already initiated contact with Boniface’s representatives, with the club ownership keen on bringing the 24-year-old Super Eagles forward to Tyneside, despite their previous interest in other options.

The Premier League club, owned by a Saudi Public Investment Fund led by Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, will have no problem committing financially to any potential deal.

On the part of Bayer Leverkusen, it is public knowledge that the Bundesliga champions are open to cashing in on Boniface, after they gave Al Nassr the greenlight to pursue a transfer for the Nigerian during the winter window.

However, Die Werkself are not in any particular rush to offload the striker, having renewed his contract for another four years only recently. Head coach Xabi Alonso also considers Boniface a vital member of the squad.

If Newcastle follow through with their interest in the summer and launch a bid for Boniface, the Nigeria international will almost certainly have the final say on whether to accept the move, just as he did in January.
