Spanish Primera División Femenina side Deportivo La Coruña, also known as Dépor ABANCA, have officially announced the signing of Nigerian forward Blessing Nkor, Soccernet.football reports.

The 21-year-old joins on a short-term deal that runs until the end of the season, as the Galician club looks to strengthen its squad.

Nkor arrives with a solid reputation for goal-scoring, having netted 12 times last season while playing for Turkish outfit Gaziantep Asya Spor.

The Nigerian international, who has been capped by her country’s senior national team, is expected to inject pace and attacking flair into Deportivo’s frontline.

Her career has seen a steady rise since her early days with Sunshine Queens in Nigeria. A move to Tanzanian club Yanga Princesses in September 2022 helped her gain valuable international exposure, which paved the way for her stint in Turkey.

On the international stage, Nkor debuted for Nigeria’s Super Falcons in a high-profile friendly against France last November.

Prior to that, she represented her nation at the U20 level, participating in the qualifying rounds of the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, although she narrowly missed out on the final squad for the tournament in Costa Rica.

Currently 14th in the league standings, Deportivo La Coruña are in urgent need of reinforcements as they aim to climb out of the lower half of the table.

Club officials will be hoping Nkor’s attacking instincts and experience at both domestic and international levels can play a pivotal role in turning their fortunes around during the second half of the season.
