Daniel Ogunmodede, Nigeria’s Super Eagles B team coach, has announced a 26-man squad to spearhead preparations for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) set to take place in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda, Soccernet.football reports.

The selection comes after Nigeria secured qualification with a convincing 3-1 aggregate victory over rivals Ghana in the qualifiers.

The Super Eagles B earned their ticket with a goalless draw in Accra, followed by an emphatic 3-1 win in Uyo.

Ogunmodede’s squad blends seasoned professionals with emerging talents, comprising three goalkeepers, ten defenders, six midfielders, and seven forwards.

In goal, Remo Stars’ Kayode Bankole leads the pack, joined by Henry Ozoemena of Enyimba FC and Kwara United’s Badmus Gbadamosi.

Among the defenders, Remo Stars’ Sadiq Ismail stands out, amid reports of his impending move to Albanian club FK Partizani. Ismail is joined by Victor Collins of Nasarawa United, who recently was involved in Nigeria’s 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda.

Midfield veteran Rabiu Ali of Kano Pillars, despite limited involvement in the qualifiers, brings experience to the team. He is joined by Jide Fatokun and emerging talents such as Rangers International’s Saviour Isaac, Musa Zayyad of El-Kanemi Warriors, and Niger Tornadoes’ Papa Daniel Mustapha.

Ogunmodede’s forward line includes Nasarawa United’s prolific Anas Yusuf, the current Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) top scorer.

Other attacking options include Sikiru Alimi of Remo Stars, Emmanuel Ogbole from Kwara United, and Plateau United’s duo of Adamu Abubakar and Temitope Vincent.

The squad will commence a closed-camping session on Monday, January 6, at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo, as they gear up for the 8th edition of CHAN.

The tournament, scheduled to run from February 1 to 28, 2024, will feature 18 teams, including joint-hosts Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda. Other participants include Morocco, Senegal, Guinea, DR Congo, Zambia, and Madagascar, among others.
