Newcastle United are considering a move for AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze as they look to strengthen their attacking options, Soccernet.football reports.

The Magpies have identified the Nigeria international as a potential target, but any formal approach is likely to depend on the confirmation of Miguel Almirón’s sale to Atlanta United.

According to reports from Italy per Tribal Football, Newcastle are closely monitoring Chukwueze’s situation at Milan, where he has struggled for consistent game time.

The 25-year-old moved to Serie A in 2023 in a €28 million deal from Villarreal, but injuries and competition from Christian Pulisic have limited his impact.

However, Newcastle are not the only club interested.

Spanish side Real Sociedad have already made an approach to Milan, hoping to bring Chukwueze back to La Liga, where he previously impressed during his six-year spell with Villarreal.

Sociedad, currently competing in the Europa League, see him as a player who could add creativity and attacking thrust to their squad.

Several Saudi Pro League clubs are also reportedly exploring a potential move.

Milan, who are open to selling Chukwueze, have set an asking price between €13 million and €18 million. The Rossoneri are unwilling to consider a loan deal and would prefer a permanent transfer that could provide financial flexibility for reinforcements in other areas.

For Chukwueze, a move to Newcastle would mark his first experience in the Premier League.

The Nigerian winger boasts strong credentials, having played a key role in Villarreal’s 2021 Europa League-winning campaign. His standout 2022-23 season, which saw him register 13 goals and 11 assists, earned him his switch to Milan.

Despite his struggles in Italy, Chukwueze has shown glimpses of his quality. He netted the winning goal in Milan’s 3-2 comeback victory over Parma in his first appearance of the year. He was also a second-half substitute in Milan’s 2-1 Champions League defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.

With five goals in 38 appearances for Nigeria, Chukwueze remains a highly regarded talent.
