Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has earned a well-deserved spot in the WhoScored Ligue 1 Team of the Week after a stellar display in Nantes’ 1-1 draw against Saint-Étienne on Sunday Soccernet.football reports.

The Nigerian international continues to prove his immense value to Nantes, netting a crucial goal and demonstrating his all-around attacking ability.

Simon opened the scoring in the 14th minute, calmly finishing to give Nantes an early lead. Despite his heroics, Saint-Étienne managed to salvage a point through Augustine Boakye’s late equalizer, denying Nantes all three points.

The goal was Simon’s fifth of the Ligue 1 campaign, complementing his five assists to underline his critical role in Nantes’ attacking setup.

With 10 goal contributions in the league, Simon remains Nantes’ top scorer and assist provider this season. This achievement not only cements his status as a vital cog in Pierre Aristouy’s side but also places him among Ligue 1’s elite performers. Only six players in the division have surpassed Simon’s combined goals and assists tally.

Joining Simon in the Team of the Week are standout performers from various clubs.

Montpellier’s goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte was rewarded for his commanding presence, while the defensive lineup featured Gautier Lloris and Arouna Sangante from Le Havre, alongside Thilo Kehrer of Monaco and Ismaily of Lille.

The midfield showcased Ludovic Blas of Rennes, Haris Belkebla of Angers, and Fabian Ruiz from PSG, while the attacking trio featured PSG’s Bradley Barcola, Montpellier’s Mousa Tamari, and Nantes’ Moses Simon. Each of these players delivered exceptional performances to merit their inclusion.

Simon’s consistent brilliance continues to boost his reputation in Ligue 1, and his contribution will be crucial as Nantes aim to climb higher in the league standings.
