Mohamed Salah cemented his place in Premier League history with a record-breaking performance during Liverpool’s emphatic 5-0 victory over West Ham, Soccernet.football reports.

The Egyptian forward became the first player in league history to record a goal and an assist in eight different matches in a single season, surpassing icons like Harry Kane, Thierry Henry, and Alan Shearer.

Salah’s brilliance was on full display at Anfield, where he not only scored but also contributed two assists, each highlighting his remarkable skill set.

In the first half, the 32-year-old displayed audacious flair by nutmegging two West Ham defenders before setting up Cody Gakpo for a clinical finish.

Later, Salah’s slaloming run through West Ham’s defense culminated in a perfectly timed pass to Diogo Jota, who slotted past Alphonse Areola.

Adding to his record-breaking night, Salah netted his customary goal just before half-time, squeezing a shot past Areola at the near post after receiving the ball inside the box.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot was effusive in his praise for Salah, describing him as “extraordinary.”

He remarked: “Mo and the word extraordinary is something I have heard a lot in the last six months. He truly deserves this. He doesn’t surprise us. We know what a player he is and what he is able to do.

“He works really hard aside from that when the opposition team has the ball. I would also add that when he scores, the chance is made by other players on the pitch. But when you put him in those positions, he is extraordinary.”

West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui echoed those sentiments, telling Sky Sports: “Mo Salah is at the moment one of the best players, even the best player in the world.”

Despite the accolades, Salah’s future at Liverpool remains uncertain. With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, the Egyptian admitted that negotiations over a renewal are far from resolved.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “No, we’re far away from that. I don’t want to put something in the media and people start saying stuff, but nothing has moved, and now we’re focused on the team.”
