After Eintracht Frankfurt stumbled against Augsburg, Bayern Munich extended their lead at the top of the Bundesliga table with a thrilling 4-2 victory over FC Heidenheim at the Allianz Arena on Saturday afternoon, Soccernet.football reports.

Jamal Musiala came off the bench to net a brace and add to the efforts of Dayot Upamecano and Leon Goretzka as Bayern Munich take their points tally to 33 points from 13 games.

With Harry Kane sidelined and manager Vincent Kompany opting to bench Musiala, Bayern found it tough against the visitors. Upamecano gave the hosts the lead in the 18th minute but Mathias Honsak equalised for Heidenheim shortly after the restart.

Five minutes after entering the pitch, Musiala restored Bayern’s advantage before Goretzka got on the end of a Sane assist to make it 3-1.

Niklas Dorsch reduced the deficit for FC Heidenheim but Musiala eased the nerves of the home fans with a late strike.

Eintracht Frankfurt needed a win to keep pace with Bayern Munich but Dino Toppmoller’s men could only settle for a 2-2 draw at home to Augsburg.

After a goalless first half, Hugo Ekitike struck first blood for Frankfurt but quick fire efforts from Phillip Tietz and Samuel Essende turned the tie around for Augsburg.

However, the visitors could not hold on for the win as Can Uzun emerged from the bench to bang the equaliser and earn a share of the spoils for the home team.

Champions Bayer Leverkusen moved to within one point of Frankfurt with a hard fought 2-1 victory over visiting St Pauli.

With top strikers Patrik Schick and Victor Boniface out injured, manager Xabi Alonso started playmaker Florian Wirtz in an advanced role.

The German international repaid his manager’s trust with the opening goal of the encounter while Jonathan Tah added a second in the 21st minute. Morgan Guilavogui netted St Pauli’s consolation strike.

RB Leipzig continued their resurgence as Marco Rose’s men secured a 2-0 victory at Holstein Kiel which sealed their fourth place on the Bundealiga table this weekend.
