Ahead of Juventus’ highly anticipated clash with AC Milan at San Siro, Timothy Weah has opened up about his admiration for a particular Rossoneri star, his father’s legendary status, and the challenges of his evolving role in the Juventus squad, Soccernet.football reports.

The 23-year-old, who is expected to lead the line for Juventus this weekend due to Dusan Vlahovic’s injury, expressed confidence in his ability to adapt to the central striker role.

“I’m ready. I work for this, to always give my best,” Weah told Il Giornale, as relayed by MilanPress.

“The role doesn’t scare me. I played centre-forward many times at PSG before [Unai] Emery moved me to the wing to exploit my speed.”

Weah also reflected on his relationship with his father, George Weah, a Milan legend and the only African player to win the Ballon d’Or.

“For me it’s dad, not George Weah. I know he’s a legend, although the last time he came to Turin, we went out and some fans asked me for a selfie and not him, they were young and didn’t recognise him. We talk to each other all the time, he watches all my games together with his mum.”

When asked about his favourite AC Milan player, Weah was unequivocal.

“Take one away from AC Milan? Just one? I’ll take away Tijjani Reijnders! For me he is an exceptional footballer, a real balancer for the whole team. I didn’t know him, I discovered him in Italy last year. He has foot, run, head, complete like few others.”

Weah also praised his U.S. teammate Christian Pulisic, calling him “a champion with great quality and experience,” and highlighted the potential of their national team ahead of the World Cup.
