Inter Miami has turned to former Liverpool star Javier Mascherano as their new head coach in a bid to restore their MLS dominance, Soccernet.football understands.
The Argentinian tactician, who most recently coached Argentina’s under-20s and Olympic team, has signed a long-term deal with the David Beckham-owned club, according to César Luis Merlo on Twitter.
Mascherano’s appointment places him alongside his legendary compatriot Lionel Messi at one of the most ambitious football projects in the world.
With a roster featuring Messi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Luis Suárez, the stakes for success have never been higher at the Miami-based club.

Mascherano’s managerial journey has been a rollercoaster. While he found success in the group stages of the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup, leading Argentina to convincing wins over Uzbekistan, Guatemala, and New Zealand, his team stumbled in the Round of 16, falling 2-0 to Nigeria.
The Olympic campaign was similarly underwhelming.
