“Best in the world” – Guardiola pinpoints Arsenal’s two biggest strengths ahead of Man City battle

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has shed light on Arsenal’s two biggest strengths as the Premier League’s top two prepare for a highly anticipated showdown this Sunday, Soccernet.football reports.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Guardiola revealed that Arsenal’s high-pressing game and their unparalleled ability from set pieces are the primary areas of concern for him.

Guardiola acknowledged the transformation of Arsenal’s set-piece routines under their current coach, Nicolas Jover, who was previously part of his staff at Manchester City.

“Sometimes try to avoid set pieces because statistically maybe they are the best in the world with how good they work,” Guardiola remarked as per MEN. “Many things [we] have to pay attention to.”

Coach Nicolas Jover, who joined Arsenal in 2021 to assist Mikel Arteta, has significantly bolstered the Gunners’ efficiency from dead-ball situations.

Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhães recently demonstrated this strength by heading in a set-piece winner in the North London derby, reminding everyone of their lethal capabilities in such scenarios. This tactical edge, combined with their relentless high pressing, poses a serious challenge to City.

“There are many aspects, high pressing, sustain it for a long time,” Guardiola continued. He remains cautious of Arsenal’s ability to disrupt play and maintain pressure, areas that City must carefully manage to emerge victorious.

The clash on Sunday is already billed as a defining moment in this season’s title race.

Both teams are riding high in the league and have shown resilience in Europe, having returned from their Champions League encounters with goalless draws against Italian oppositions.

Arsenal’s recent form, particularly their remarkable defensive record on the road, has added an extra layer of tension. The Gunners could make history by becoming the first team to avoid trailing in 12 consecutive away matches in the Premier League.
