Pep Guardiola has reaffirmed his commitment to Manchester City amidst speculation linking him with the vacant England managerial position, Soccernet.football reports.

The Football Association is in the process of selecting a successor for Gareth Southgate, who stepped down following England’s defeat to Spain in the UEFA Euro 2024 final.

Guardiola, who led Manchester City to a record fourth consecutive Premier League title last season, is under contract with the club for another year.

The 53-year-old Spaniard has an impressive record with City, winning 225 of his 304 league matches, scoring 755 goals, and achieving a win rate of 74.01 per cent.

Despite the ongoing search for Southgate’s replacement, Guardiola remains focused on his current role.

When questioned about the possibility of managing England in the future, he emphasised his dedication to Manchester City, stating, “I am here, I am really pleased. I cannot say anything. I don’t know where it has come from. I am really satisfied here.”

Guardiola is currently with his squad on a pre-season tour of the United States.

The former Barcelona manager’s comments follow similar declarations from other high-profile candidates, including Eddie Howe and Jurgen Klopp, who have also distanced themselves from the England job.

Additionally, England Under-21 head coach Lee Carsley and former Chelsea manager Graham Potter are emerging as leading contenders for the role.

Following their US tour, Guardiola and his team will return to England to prepare for the Community Shield clash against Manchester United at Wembley, marking the official start of the new season.
