Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana appears determined to join AC Milan, with reports suggesting he is not even considering offers from other clubs, including Manchester United, Soccernet.football understands.

According to today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport via SempreMilan, although a move this summer is still on the cards, it could potentially be delayed until next year due to ongoing negotiations between Milan and Monaco.

The talks have been arduous, with both clubs at a standstill regarding Fofana’s transfer fee. Despite this, the player’s desire to move to Milan remains firm.

Fofana’s representatives have informed Milan that he is prepared to turn down a potential offer from Manchester United, having already rejected interest from West Ham United.

Although United have shown interest in Fofana, they are reportedly more focused on pursuing Manuel Ugarte at this time.

Fofana recently returned to Monaco’s training ground on August 1, following his post-Euros break, but he has been training separately from the rest of the squad. This has been seen as a clear indicator of his current situation.

However, it remains to be seen if he will be included in Monaco’s squad for their upcoming friendly against Barcelona.

AC Milan is closely monitoring the situation, particularly since Fofana has already agreed to a four-year contract with the Italian side.

However, Monaco’s valuation of €25 million remains a sticking point, with Milan reluctant to meet this figure. The Rossoneri have offered €20 million, citing Fofana’s contract, which expires in 2025, as a key factor in their bid.

While the situation remains unresolved, there is speculation that Monaco may make a decision soon, particularly with the arrival of their new signing, Lamine Camara. Milan, however, have backup options, including Johnny Cardoso and Manu Kone, in case the deal for Fofana falls through.
