Igor Tudor has resigned as Lazio coach after less than three months in charge, the Serie A club announced on Wednesday, Soccernet.football reports.

Tudor took over from Maurizio Sarri in March, signing an 18-month contract. Under his leadership, Lazio moved from ninth to seventh place in the standings, securing a spot in the Europa League.

“Lazio announces that Igor Tudor has resigned as head of the first team,” the club said in a statement. “We thank him for his work and wish him the best personally and professionally.”

The 46-year-old Croatian has managed Hellas Verona and Udinese in Italy and guided Olympique de Marseille to third place in Ligue 1 in the 2022-23 season before leaving the club last June.

Possible Successor

Former FC Porto manager Sergio Conceiçao is the leading candidate to replace Tudor at Lazio. However, Marseille is also interested in Conceiçao as they seek a replacement for Jean-Louis Gasset.

Marseille, finishing eighth in Ligue 1 and missing out on European competition next season, may struggle to attract Conceiçao compared to Lazio, which will play in the Europa League.

Other potential candidates for the Lazio job include Marco Baroni, who recently left Hellas Verona, and Paulo Sousa, dismissed by Salernitana in October.
