Spain, England, Poland, and Korea Republic are the latest countries to book their places at this year’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup to be hosted in the Dominican Republic.

Korea Republic Qualifies for FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup

Casey Phair scored twice as Korea Republic defeated China PR 2-1, securing their place in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2024.

Phair, who became the youngest-ever player in the FIFA Women’s World Cup last year, scored in each half to secure third place at the AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup.

After losing 3-0 to Japan in the semifinals, the Korea Republic started strong with Phair’s deflected goal in the 13th minute. China’s Dong Yujie equalized with a stunning shot nine minutes from time, but Phair netted the winner shortly after, taking advantage of a defensive lapse.

Korea Republic will join Japan and Korea DPR in the World Cup, set for 16 October to 3 November in the Dominican Republic. The Asian title will be decided when Korea DPR face Japan.

England 0-4 Spain: Both Qualify for Dominican Republic 2024

Spain defeated England 4-0 in the final of the 2024 European Women’s Under-17 Championship in Malmö, with both teams securing their spots in the U-17 Women’s World Cup.

England’s Young Lionesses, reaching their first final, struggled against the five-time champions.

Despite early efforts, including a denied penalty claim by Erica Parkinson, Spain took control before halftime. Alba Cerrato scored twice, first with a close-range effort and then with a header.

In the second half, England’s attempts were countered by Spain, who added two more goals through Celia Segura.

Despite the loss, England’s run to the final was their best in the competition’s history. Spain, England, and Poland will represent Europe in the World Cup.

Nigeria 6-0 Burkina Faso

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team advanced to the final qualifying round for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2024 with a dominant 6-0 victory over Burkina Faso, to secure a 7-1 aggregate win.

Harmony Chidi scored a hat-trick, with Peace Effiong adding two goals in the match at the National Stadium in Abuja. The Flamingos had drawn 1-1 in the first leg in Bamako, Mali, but dominated the return leg.

Chidi opened the scoring in the 11th minute, with Effiong doubling the lead before halftime. Chidi added two more goals in the second half, along with one from Ramota Kareem and another from Effiong.

Nigeria, who finished third at the last World Cup in India 2022, will face either Senegal or Liberia in the final qualifying round.
