Real Madrid clinched what coach Carlo Ancelotti described as a “deserved” La Liga title after dispatching Cadiz 3-0, while Girona’s remarkable 4-2 triumph over Barcelona sealed the deal, Soccernet.football reports.

Los Blancos secured the Spanish title with a 3-0 victory against Cadiz, followed by Barcelona’s downfall at the hands of Girona.

Ancelotti’s squad meticulously executed their game plan against Cadiz, while Barcelona’s stumble against Girona paved the way for Madrid’s coronation, marking their 36th title triumph, a record-extending feat.

Girona’s sensational win not only secured their spot in the Champions League for the first time in their history but also added to the drama, as they defeated the Catalan giants for the second time this season.

“We’ve had a spectacular Liga campaign,” Ancelotti told reporters.
“We’ve made few errors and the advantage is deserved.”

With the Bayern Munich clash in sight, Ancelotti strategically rotated his squad, resulting in a commendable performance even with key players rested.

Thibaut Courtois made a remarkable return to the starting lineup after a lengthy injury layoff, securing a clean sheet in his comeback.

Additionally, Luka Modric made history by becoming the oldest player to appear for Madrid in La Liga, surpassing Ferenc Puskas’ longstanding record.

The match against Cadiz showcased Madrid’s resilience, with goals coming in the second half, notably from Brahim Diaz and Jude Bellingham.

Girona’s victory over Barcelona added to the spectacle, with Andreas Christensen’s early opener for Barcelona being swiftly neutralized by Artem Dovbyk’s equalizer.

Substitute Portu’s impactful performance turned the tide in Girona’s favour, ultimately leading to an exhilarating 4-2 triumph, securing their historic Champions League qualification.

Barcelona, on the other hand, faced disappointment, with coach Xavi acknowledging the need for introspection after relinquishing their crown.

In other matches, Atletico Madrid secured a vital 1-0 victory over Mallorca, further solidifying their fourth-place position in the league standings.
