Bayern Munich are considering selling some of their key defenders to make room for Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah, Soccernet.football understands.

After a disappointing, trophyless season, Bayern Munich are planning significant changes in the upcoming summer transfer window. The club could sign up to seven new players, with major changes expected in the centre of defence.

According to TZ reports suggest Bayern are keen on signing Jonathan Tah, the German international whose impressive displays helped Bayer Leverkusen secure the Bundesliga title.

Tah, 28, could be available for a transfer fee between 20-30 million euros, as his contract with Bayer Leverkusen expires next year.

However, to secure Tah, Bayern need to create space in their squad. They currently have four central defenders: Matthijs de Ligt, Dayot Upamecano, Eric Dier, and Minjae Kim.

It is reported that none of these defenders are unsellable. Upamecano and Kim, who both had inconsistent seasons with notable errors in crucial Champions League matches, are considered likely candidates for departure.

Even de Ligt, who has faced injuries and inconsistent form, is not guaranteed to stay.

However, Bayern’s plans are on hold until a new coach is appointed, with Thomas Tuchel on his way out.

Tah, too, is likely to want clarity on the club’s managerial situation before making a move, with the defender likely to stay at the BayerArena and help Leverkusen challenge for the Champions League.
