Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho is enjoying one of the most productive spells of his career, Footynaija reports.
The Bursaspor striker is closing in on the kind of scoring return that could make his move to Turkey a defining moment.
The former Sevilla ace has scored 11 goals and provided two assists for the Turkish second-tier side, having joined as a free agent in July 2026 after contract talks with Scottish Premiership champions Celtic broke down.
Iheanacho scored nine goals in 24 appearances across all competitions for Celtic last season, helping them win a domestic double after arriving in September 2025.
Iheanacho closing in on personal best
The former Leicester City forward enjoyed some of his most productive football in England, scoring 19 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions during the 2020-21 season.
He also scored 12 goals in 35 appearances in the 2022-23 campaign, demonstrating his ability to deliver double figures when given regular opportunities.
With 11 goals already at Bursaspor, Iheanacho is just one short of matching that 12-goal return and eight away from his career-best tally of 19.
Bursaspor counting on Nigerian forward
Head coach Mustafa Er acknowledged that the club worked hard to secure Iheanacho’s signature despite interest from several teams.
“We transferred Iheanacho so that he would score goals. We worked very hard for that transfer,” Er said.
The striker has also carried his confidence onto the international stage, opening the scoring in Nigeria’s 3-3 draw against Russia on October 6.
With his goals continuing to flow, Iheanacho has an opportunity to turn his Turkish adventure into the most prolific spell of his senior career. Maintaining his current pace will be crucial if he is to surpass his previous best.
