Moses Usor has expressed his delight after scoring the winning goal on his Super Eagles debut in Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Madagascar in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying opener, Footynaija.com reports.
The LASK winger was introduced in the 61st minute as Nigeria looked to complete a comeback after Madagascar had taken a surprise lead in Uyo.
George Ilenikhena had restored parity before halftime, but the Super Eagles needed another goal to complete the turnaround and Usor provided it just four minutes after coming on.

The 24-year-old picked up possession inside Nigeria’s half before embarking on an impressive solo run, beating his markers and driving into the Madagascar penalty area. He then kept his composure to finish at the near post and send the home crowd into delirium.
It was a dream start to life with the senior national team for Usor, who was making his maiden appearance for the Super Eagles. Reflecting on the memorable night, the LASK winger took to social media to thank those who helped him enjoy a perfect debut.
“What a moment! Grateful for my scoring debut and for the trust and support from the coaching staff, my teammates, and the fans. This one means a lot!” Usor wrote on Instagram, per Complete Sports.
The goal could prove to be an important moment in Usor’s budding Super Eagles career, particularly with Eric Chelle already showing his willingness to trust fresh faces.
His introduction against Madagascar immediately changed the dynamics of the Super Eagles attack, with the winger’s pace and directness on the ball causing problems for the visitors.
With Nigeria’s next AFCON qualifier against Guinea-Bissau coming up on Tuesday, Usor has now given himself a strong platform to push for greater involvement as the Super Eagles look to make it two wins from two.
