Nigeria’s Flamingos swept aside Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, Niger and Burkina Faso to claim the 2026 WAFU-B U17 Girls Cup title in emphatic fashion, Footynaija reports.
The Flamingos completed a flawless campaign on Sunday, defeating hosts Togo 4-0 in the final in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, to finish the regional tournament with five wins from five matches.
Nigeria’s journey to the trophy began with a 5-0 victory over Niger, before the Flamingos continued their charge following a 4-2 triumph over Ghana and a 2-0 win over Burkina Faso.

They then overcame hosts Cote d’Ivoire 2-0 to book their place in the final, where Togo stood between them and the regional crown.
Captain Chidera Harmony was the star of the final, calmly converting two penalties to put Nigeria in command before half-time.
The first came in the 15th minute after Oluwakemi Adegbuyi was brought down inside the penalty area. Harmony stepped up and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.
Twenty minutes later, Nigeria were awarded another penalty after Adegbuyi was fouled again. Harmony made no mistake, doubling the Flamingos’ lead and giving her side a comfortable advantage at the break.
Togo struggled to find a route back into the contest after the interval as Nigeria controlled proceedings.
Substitute Oluebube Umejiaku then put the result beyond doubt in the 67th minute with an impressive finish, before Adegbuyi finally got the reward her performance deserved.
After winning both penalties, the forward found the net in the 89th minute to complete Nigeria’s 4-0 triumph.
The victory crowned a remarkable five-match run in which the Flamingos defeated every opponent placed in their path, including Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Niger, Burkina Faso and Togo.
The regional title also provides Nigeria with valuable momentum ahead of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco next month.
The Flamingos, who had already secured their World Cup ticket before the WAFU-B tournament, will face Poland, defending champions North Korea and Puerto Rico in Group B.
Their global campaign begins against Poland on October 17, with Nigeria arriving in Morocco as WAFU-B champions and with a perfect regional record behind them.
