Terem Moffi is set to begin a new chapter in Germany, with Hamburger SV agreeing a deal with OGC Nice for the Super Eagles striker after making him their new No. 9, Footynaija.com reports.
The move will give Moffi another chance to rebuild his career after a difficult period in France. The Nigerian joined Nice from Lorient in January 2023 after an impressive spell with the club, where his goals had made him one of the most sought-after forwards in Ligue 1.
His time at Nice, however, has not gone as planned. Injuries have affected his progress, and Moffi has struggled to establish himself as the regular attacking option he was at Lorient. He joined Porto on loan in January with an option to make the deal permanent, but the Portuguese club opted not to trigger it.
The move to Hamburg gives the 27-year-old a fresh start at a club returning to the Bundesliga.

Hamburger SV have been looking for a striker who can lead their attack, and Moffi fits that role. The club have now reached a verbal agreement with Nice for the Nigerian, with the final paperwork still to be completed.
Moffi set for Hamburg medical
According to Florian Plettenberg, Hamburg have agreed to pay €2 million for Moffi, with another €500,000 available in add-ons.
The Nigerian is expected to sign a contract that will keep him at Hamburger SV until 2029. He is also travelling to Hamburg today Friday 21 August, ahead of his medical on Saturday.
Moffi will take over as the club’s new No. 9, giving him an important role as Hamburg prepare for their return to Germany’s top flight.
The striker has already shown that he can score regularly when fit. He scored 18 Ligue 1 goals for Lorient in the 2022/23 season before joining Nice where he was also their top goalscorer in the 2023/2024 season, and his form also earned him a place in Nigeria’s plans.
His next challenge will be to rediscover that level in Germany.
