Turkish Super Lig side Eyupspor have opened negotiations with Sunderland over the permanent transfer of Nigerian striker Ahmed Abdullahi, Footynaija.com reports.
Abdullahi has endured a frustrating spell at the Stadium of Light since joining from Belgian side KAA Gent in August 2024 on a four-year contract. Hampered by groin surgery and subsequent injury setbacks, the former Nigeria U20 international is yet to make a senior competitive appearance for the Black Cats.
According to reports from England, Sunderland are now in discussions with Eyupspor over a permanent deal that could hand the striker a fresh start after an injury-plagued two years on Wearside.

Although opportunities with the senior team have been limited, Abdullahi has shown glimpses of his potential at youth level. The Nigerian forward has scored six goals in seven appearances for Sunderland’s Under-21 side, displaying the finishing ability that first caught the attention of the club before injuries stalled his progress.
A switch for Abdullahi could prove beneficial for both parties with Sunderland willing to sanction his departure as they look to cash in on the player while Eyupspor are in the market for attacking reinforcements after finishing 15th in the Turkish Super Lig last season.
The Istanbul-based club recently parted ways with experienced striker Umut Bozok and are looking to strengthen their forward line under new head coach Ozhan Pulat, who took charge earlier this month.
Should negotiations end in an agreement, Abdullahi will have the opportunity to relaunch his career with regular top-flight football after a difficult spell in England. For the Nigerian striker, a move to Turkey could offer the fresh start needed to finally fulfil the promise that earned him a move from KAA Gent less than two years ago.
