Transfer: Onuachu sale could pave way for Trabzonspor’s pursuit of Super Eagles striker

Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor are reportedly preparing to step up their pursuit of Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi amid growing speculations of a potential departure for fellow Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu, Footynaija.com reports.

Trabzonspor have already opened preliminary talks with Durosinmi over a possible switch this summer and are now believed to be weighing up a formal offer. However, any concrete move for the 22-year-old will only materialise if the Black Sea Storm can complete the sale of Onuachu.

Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli are said to be pushing to sign the experienced Nigerian striker after his impressive campaign in Turkey. Trabzonspor are reportedly holding out for around €15 million, and a successful sale would free up both the finances and a place in the squad for Durosinmi’s arrival.

The Nigerian forward is currently under contract with Pisa until 2030 after joining the Italian club earlier this year. Although his deal reportedly includes an €18 million release clause, fresh reports suggest Pisa could be willing to negotiate a transfer in the region of €8 million to €10 million.

That valuation is viewed as considerably more realistic for Trabzonspor, who remain keen to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new campaign.

Durosinmi has long been regarded as one of Nigeria’s brightest attacking prospects, but injuries have disrupted his progress over the past two seasons.

A move to Trabzonspor could hand the powerful forward an opportunity to relaunch his career while also filling the void that would be left by Onuachu should the former Genk striker eventually make the switch to Saudi Arabia.

For now, though, it appears that Trabzonspor’s pursuit of Durosinmi remains firmly tied to the future of their current Nigerian marksman.
