Former Scottish champions Aberdeen have signed Nigerian striker Toyosi Olusanya on a two-year deal following the expiration of his contract at Major League Soccer side Houston Dynamo, Footynaija.com reports.
Olusanya spent the second half of last season on loan at Pittodrie, playing 16 league games and scoring twice to help Aberdeen finish eight in the regular season and avoid relegation during the play-offs.
Following what is largely considered an impactful loan spell, the 28-year-old has now joined Aberdeen on a free transfer, making him the fifth summer signing for a club looking to improve greatly on last season’s performance.

Speaking to the club’s official media RedTV after making the move, Olusanya expressed delight with his return to Pittodrie, explaining that it was an easy decision to rejoin the club after enjoying his temporary stay last term.

“I am buzzing to be back,” Olusanya said. “From the moment I arrived in January, I felt welcomed by everyone at the Club. The staff, the players and the supporters all made me feel at home.
“Coming in during the middle of a season isn’t always easy. I was still working my way back to full fitness and adapting to a new environment, but I felt I improved as the weeks went on and now I have the opportunity to start again with a full pre-season behind me.
“I know the manager well and I know exactly what he expects from me. That gives me a great platform to push on and show what I can do.
“Most importantly, I loved my time at Aberdeen. I enjoy living in the city, I understand what the Club means to people and I experienced first-hand the incredible backing we receive from the supporters.
“When you play for Aberdeen, there is an expectation to compete, win matches and challenge at the top end of the table and for trophies. That’s what attracted me back and I’m determined to play my part in delivering success for the Club.”

Olusanya will also be linking up with fellow Nigerian Afeez Aremu, who joined Aberdeen from German outfit Kaiserslauten during the 2026 winter transfer window.
