Rafiu Durosinmi says earning his first invitation to the Super Eagles is a dream fulfilled as the Pisa forward now hopes to build a legacy with Nigeria’s national team, Footynaija reports.
The 23-year-old striker was included in Eric Chelle’s squad for the 2026 Unity Cup in London, where Nigeria will face Zimbabwe in the semi-finals on Tuesday. Durosinmi is one of the fresh attacking options invited for the tournament, which runs from May 26 to May 30.
Although the forward has managed just one goal since joining Italian side Pisa in January, he had enjoyed an impressive first half of the season with Viktoria Plzen in the Czech Republic. Before his move to Serie A, Durosinmi scored 13 goals in 30 matches for the club.
Speaking in an interview shared on the official Super Eagles X page, the striker admitted he was overwhelmed after learning about his invitation.
“I was so happy because it’s a great honor to be called out of many talents from Nigeria, all over the world. I sent the message to my family, my agent also, and they were all happy,” he said.
The former Plzen attacker also described the opportunity to wear Nigeria’s colours as one of the proudest moments of his career.
“It means a lot to me. It’s a great honor to put on the jersey. It’s a dream come to pass.”
Durosinmi, who could make his debut against Zimbabwe, also revealed his long-term ambition with the national team.
“I want to finish my career as a legend. I want to be someone that played for the Super Eagles. A name they’ll remember as someone that gave his best and was one of the best.”
Durosinmi has a combined haul of 14 goals and one assist for Viktoria Plzen and Pisa this season.
