Millwall winger Femi Azeez has been recognised for an outstanding season after being shortlisted for the 2025–26 EFL Championship Player of the Season award, Footynaija reports.
The 24-year-old has been one of the most consistent performers in the division, enjoying a remarkable first full campaign with Millwall FC following his move from Reading FC in August 2024. What initially looked like a chance to rebuild his career has quickly turned into a defining period, with Azeez emerging as a key figure in Millwall’s push for promotion.
Under the guidance of manager Alex Neil, Azeez has developed into a reliable attacking outlet. The winger has contributed eight goals and eight assists in 30 league appearances. His ability to stretch defences with pace, drive at opponents, and deliver in decisive moments has made him a constant threat throughout the campaign.
One of the clearest highlights of his season came in February, when he was named the Championship Player of the Month after producing five goal involvements in as many matches. That run of form not only boosted Millwall’s position in the table but also strengthened his reputation as one of the league’s most dangerous wide players.
Despite his impressive numbers, Azeez faces strong competition for the award. The shortlist also includes Carl Rushworth of Coventry City, Hayden Hackney of Middlesbrough FC, and Žan Vipotnik of Swansea City, who is currently the division’s leading scorer.
The winner will be announced at the EFL Awards, where Neil is also nominated for Manager of the Season, highlighting what has been a strong year for the London club.
One of the foreign-born Nigerian players on the radar of Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, Azeez could be in line to earn his first international call-up this summer.
