Turkish Super Lig giants Galatasaray have set their sights on a potential move for another Nigerian star Calvin Bassey as they make plans to reinforce their squad ahead of the summer transfer window, Footynaija.com reports.
Galatasaray, who already have prolific Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen on their books appear to be looking to increase the Nigerian contingent at RAMS Park ahead of the 2026/2027 campaign.
Recall that Footynaija.com recently reported the Super Lig champions’ interest in Bright Osayi-Samuel amid the Nigerian full-back’s current lack of playing time at EFL Championship outfit Birmingham City.

Now fresh reports out of the Turkish media indicate that Galatasaray are also interested in acquiring the services of reliable Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey from Fulham this summer.
According to Fotospor, the Lions, whose only current left-footed central defensive option is Abdulkerim Bardacki, are ready to prioritize a move for the 26-year-old at the end of the season as he sits high on their transfer wishlist.
Why Gala’s plans for Bassey could face complications

Calvin Bassey is currently on a contract that runs out in the summer of 2027, and should ordinarily be a soft target for potential suitors in the transfer market this summer.
However, Fulham have the option of extending the Super Eagles defender’s stay at Craven Cottage until the summer of 2028, meaning the West London outfit will be under no pressure to part ways with one of their most trusted talents in the face of mounting speculations.
The existence of that clause also puts the Cottagers in a position to demand a significantly high transfer fee if they decide to enter negotiations with Galatasaray, potentially pricing the Super Lig giants out of a move.
Bassey, who is currently recovering from a back injury, is also attracting transfer interest from other clubs across Europe and they’ll definitely be monitoring his situation very closely as the summer window approaches.
