The Super Eagles of Nigeria will take on Jordan in their second match of the four-nation invitational tournament as both sides continue their preparations ahead of future competitive fixtures, Footynaija.com reports.

Nigeria will be aiming to follow up their win over the Persian Lions of Iran with another victory on Tuesday, meanwhile Jordan’s focus will be on building momentum ahead of their first ever appearance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Recent form

The Super Eagles head into Tuesday’s encounter on the back of a 2-1 victory over Iran in their opening game of the tournament.

Goals from Moses Simon and Akor Adams handed Nigeria control of the contest, although a second-half strike from Mehdi Taremi ensured a nervy finish.

That result extended Nigeria’s impressive run of form in recent months, with Eric Chelle’s side showing consistency at both ends of the pitch.

Jordan, meanwhile, were held to a 2-2 draw by Costa Rica in their last outing. The Chivalrous Ones appeared to be cruising after establishing a two-goal lead, only to concede twice late on and settle for a share of the spoils.

Despite that setback, Jordan have been relatively solid in recent matches, losing just one of their last five games while also maintaining a consistent attacking threat.

History and head-to-head

Both sides have met twice previously in international friendlies, with each team recording one victory.

Nigeria claimed a 2-0 win in their first meeting in 2004, while Jordan secured a narrow 1-0 victory the last time both nations faced off in 2013.

Team news

Nigeria could make a number of changes to their starting lineup following the win over Iran, with several players pushing for opportunities.

Paul Onuachu, Chidera Ejuke, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Raphael Onyedika are all in contention to feature, while Collins Yira Sor and Philip Otele could earn their senior international debuts.

Emmanuel Fernandez and Chibuike Nwaiwu, who both featured in the previous game, are also in the mix and will be looking to get more minutes..

Maduka Okoye is expected to continue in goal, while Akor Adams could retain his place in attack after scoring in the last outing.

The Super Eagles will, however, be without Victor Osimhen and Stanley Nwabali, while Calvin Bassey remains unavailable due to injury.

Jordan, on the other hand, are expected to stick largely with the core of the side that faced Costa Rica. Yazan Al-Arab, Abdallah Nasib and Abu Dahab could form part of a back three that will be tasked with providing defensive stability.

While Mousa Al-Tamari remains their key attacking threat and is expected to start. Baha’ Faisal should continue to lead the line.

Possible line-ups

Jordan: Abulaila; Nasib, Al-Arab, Abu Dahab; Assaf, Al-Rawabdeh, Abu Taha, Hasheesh; Al-Tamari, Faisal, Al-Fakhouri

Nigeria: Okoye; Osayi-Samuel, Nwaiwu, Fernandez, Sanusi; Onyedika, Iwobi; Chukwueze, Onyeka, Lookman; Akor

What to expect

The Super Eagles boast plenty of experienced and talented stars despite missing a number of key players. This depth of quality should ultimately shine through with Eric Chelle’s men expected to impose themselves on proceedings and overwhelm their Asian counterparts.

Jordan have scored in each of their last seven outings so they’ll certainly carry some threat going forward. Nevertheless, the Nigerians should have enough in their locker to come out on top at the Mardan Stadyumu on Tuesday.
