Nigeria will face Jordan without two key defenders after Semi Ajayi and Bruno Onyemaechi both left the Super Eagles camp in Antalya following the team’s recent win over Iran, Footynaija reports.

Head coach Eric Chelle has confirmed he will not call up replacements, choosing instead to trust the players already in camp ahead of Tuesday’s final game in the four-nation tournament.

Former Arsenal man Ajayi started the 2-1 victory against Iran but was forced off in the second half, making way for debutant Emmanuel Fernandez. The Hull City defender missed the team’s next training session and was subsequently permitted to leave camp for personal reasons. Former Boavista star Onyemaechi, who completed the full match, also departed shortly after following the birth of his child. Porto ace Zaidu Sanusi is set to stand-in for Olympiakos full-back.

Despite losing two defensive options at a crucial stage, Chelle has opted against drafting in reinforcements. The Malian retains belief in the depth and adaptability of his squad, with players already in camp expected to step into larger roles.

Fernandez, who impressed on his debut, is now in line for more minutes, while Igoh Ogbu is set to maintain his place in central defence. There is also the option of Chibuike Nwaiwu providing cover if required.

Nigeria head into the decisive fixture against Jordan knowing that victory will secure the tournament title. Their 2-1 win over Iran, sealed by goals from Moses Simon and Akor Adams, has put them in control of their fate.

Jordan, who drew 2-2 with Costa Rica after conceding late, have already shown they can be difficult opponents. However, Nigeria’s strong recent form offers encouragement. Chelle’s side are unbeaten in 19 matches, scoring freely while remaining defensively organised.
