Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi believes his strike to help Fulham secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory over struggling London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday was one of a kind, Footynaija.com reports.

Iwobi’s status as one of Fulham’s most important players this season is not in any doubt and the Nigeria international did well to come up with the goods once again as the Cottagers played hosts to Tottenham at Craven Cottage.

Harry Wilson broke the deadlock in the seventh minute, and Iwobi made it 2–0 in the 34th after a sharp one-two with Wilson. The Nigerian midfielder latched onto a clever lay-off and guided a beautifully placed effort that struck the inside of the left post before bouncing into the net.

Iwobi’s goal was particularly impressive given the distance he scored from and the technique he employed. Using the inside of his right foot, the former Arsenal man went for placement rather than power as most players would’ve done.

Reflecting on his goal in an interview with Jack Kelly after the game, Iwobi labeled it a unique strike, suggesting that not many players could’ve executed that finish in the same manner that he did.

“Unique – that’s the best way to put it. I don’t think anyone has groins to open up their hip and side-foot it like that. When H passed to me I had one thought to side foot it. I do it in training, so my team-mates weren’t surprised.”

The strike took Iwobi’s tally to four for the season and brought his overall goal contributions tally to seven. It also propelled Fulham up to ninth on the Premier League table, keeping them in contention to secure European football ahead of next season.
