Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar has dedicated Valencia’s narrow La Liga victory over Osasuna to the fans after helping Los Che secure a hard-fought 1-0 win on Sunday afternoon, Footynaija.com reports.
Sadiq was making only his second start in La Liga since joining Valencia from Real Sociedad in the January transfer window and the towering Super Eagles striker played a significant role in ensuring victory for his side.
The decisive moment came just minutes after the hour mark when Sadiq won a penalty for Valencia in a one-on-one situation where Osasuna goalkeeper Sergio Herrera brought him down.

Belgian midfielder Largie Ramanzani stepped up and converted the spot kick to put Valencia in front. Los Che would go on to dominate the rest of the encounter but they didn’t need a second goal to coast to victory in front of their home fans.
Reacting after the win in a post-match interview published on Valencia’s official website, Sadiq emphasized the importance of that victory for the club, the players and the fans.

“Playing here is always a dream for each of us. Playing in front of these fans in this stadium with so much tradition. It’s a different feeling to play here.
“It’s important for us to win the three points today. We’ve been working hard this week to give the fans what they deserve, and now we finally have the three points and are already looking forward to the next match.”

That win was Valencia’s second from their last five outings in the Spanish top flight and crucially, it took them five points clear of the relegation zone with Los Che now sitting 13th on La Liga’s standings.
Valencia return to action next week in a crucial clash against Deportivo Alaves, who are just two points behind them in La Liga. They’ll be looking to register back-to-back league victories at the Mestalla for the first time this season.
