Tanzanian Premier League outfit Singida Black Stars have suspended Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie following allegations of his involvement in a match-fixing scandal, Footynaija.com reports.
Obasogie, who joined Singida Black Stars from Ethiopian club side Fasil Kenema in 2025, has found himself in hot water after making only five appearances for the Tanzanian club.
The Super Eagles shot-stopper featured in goal for Singida Black Stars in their Premier League clash against Namungo on Thursday with the game ending in a dramatic 1-1 draw, owing largely to a last minute goal-keeping howler.

Singida Black Stars were leading 1-0 until Namungo had a free kick deep into stoppage time. The delivery of the set piece initially seemed like a routine catch for Obasogie but he fumbled the ball, allowing Fabrice Ngoy to net a late equalizer.
Following the incident, Black Stars released a statement on Friday, revealing that they were suspending the Nigeria international for three months to allow an investigation into allegations of match-fixing.
This latest development continues a worrisome trend of Super Eagles goalkeepers getting embroiled in controversies, with Obasogie the third Nigerian shot-stopper to be involved in a high-profile scandal within the space of a year.
Another Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye recently received a two-month suspension from Italian football authorities over an illegal betting scandal, following an investigation that stemmed from a Serie A fixture on March 11, 2024, when his club Udinese faced Lazio.
Obasogie will remain sidelined pending the outcome of Singidi Black Stars’ ongoing investigation. Whether this situation will affect his chances with the Nigeria national team ahead of the March international break remains uncertain.
