Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu continued his impressive form on Sunday after scoring the winning goal in Trabzonspor’s 2-1 victory over Gaziantep FK in the Turkish Süper Lig, Footynaija reports.
The Nigerian forward has now scored in five straight league matches, setting a new personal record during his time with Trabzonspor across both spells at the club. His previous best run came earlier in the 2025 season, when he found the net in four consecutive matches against Gaziantep, Fatih Karagümrük, Kayserispor and Çaykur Rizespor.
Sunday’s match turned lively midway through the first half, with three goals arriving in a dramatic five-minute spell that changed the course of the game.
Gaziantep took the lead in the 22nd minute when striker Mohamed Bayo reacted quickest inside the penalty area, finishing from close range to give the home side a 1-0 advantage.
Trabzonspor responded almost immediately. Just two minutes later, Felipe Augusto equalised with a confident left-footed strike from the right side of the box, beating the goalkeeper and bringing the visitors back into the contest at 1-1.
The comeback was completed in the 27th minute, and once again Onuachu proved decisive. The 31-year-old showed his striker’s instinct by positioning himself perfectly in the centre of the penalty area before firing home a right-footed finish to put Trabzonspor ahead.
That goal ultimately decided the match, sealing an important away victory for Trabzonspor.
The strike also pushed his league tally to 17 goals in just 20 appearances this season, placing him atop the goal scorers chart in the division. In reaching that number, Onuachu has already surpassed the 15 goals he recorded in 21 league matches during his previous loan spell with Trabzonspor in the 2023/24 campaign.
