Former Watford striker Troy Deeney believes Atletico Madrid is the perfect club for Ademola Lookman following the Super Eagles forward’s strong start to life at the La Liga club, Footynaija.com reports.
Ademola Lookman has registered five goal contributions (3G, 2A) in five appearances across all competitions for Atletico Madrid since joining the Madrid based club from Atalanta in the January transfer window.
The Nigeria international’s latest contribution came in the form of a goal in Atleti’s six-goal thriller against Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League play-off and Deeney believes the forward has found a perfect home in the Spanish capital.

“I think there’s a moment now in time for every footballer that is perfect. He’s is a kind of guy, yes he has spark, but he needs structure,” Deeney said while on punditry duties with CBS.
“He needs to know who, what, and where. He gets that at Atletico. You know what you’re doing under Diego Simone, how it’s supposed to be, and what you’re supposed to go and then show what you have. I think he’s a perfect fit for both him and the team.

“In England, he never got the trust when he was at Fulham. They never gave him a sure position. Don’t worry if you make a mistake, we will give you the ball again.
“I remember him, he tried to do the Panenka, he missed it and he was gone. The talent was there and I also think Atalanta trusted him to be the bright spark.”

Lookman did benefit immensely from his time at Atalanta where he enjoyed both individual and collective success. Now, he looks set to become a very crucial player for Atletico Madrid as they look to break Barcelona and Real Madrid’s monopoly in the Spanish top flight.
