Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq ended his La Liga drought with a crucial goal to help Valencia secure a well deserved 2-0 victory over Levante at the Estadio Ciudad de Valencia on Sunday, Footynaija.com reports.

Sadiq has largely been used as a substitute in La Liga by head coach Carlos Corberan since his return to Valencia in the winter transfer window and the Nigeria international once again started Sunday’s encounter on the bench.

The game went into half time goalless with the home side Levante fashioning out the best chances of the half. However, they failed to capitalize and eventually paid for their profligacy in the second half.

Belgian midfielder Largie Ramanzani put Valencia in front just four minutes after the hour mark before Sadiq, who has been introduced into the game in the 58th minute doubled Los Che’s lead in the 84th minute to secure all three points.

The Super Eagles striker got on the end of a long ball from teammate Javi Guerra after overpowering his marker, surged through on goal, and calmly fired past the goalkeeper to find the back of the net.

That goal ended a dry run of nine months without a goal in the Spanish top flight, having last found the net during his loan spell at Valencia last season in a 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano back in April 2025.

More importantly, Sadiq’s goal propelled Valencia out of relegation waters. Los Che now sit in 14th place on the La Liga table with two points separating them and Mallorca who occupy 18th place.
