Former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Victor Perreira is in line to become the next manager of Super Eagles stars Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi at Nottingham Forest, Footynaija.com reports.

Nottingham Forest parted ways with Sean Dyche shortly after Wednesday’s goalless draw against Perreira’s old team Wolves, a result that left them just three points clear of the relegation zone with 12 matches still to play.

The Tricky Trees wasted little time in opening talks with Pereira, and those discussions have since progressed to the point where an agreement is now said to be close according to reports from Daily Sports.

Perreira quickly became the leading candidate to replace Dyche, helped by his existing relationship with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis from their time together at Olympiacos.

The 57-year-old Portuguese tactician earned plaudits for keeping Wolves in the Premier League last season after arriving midway through the campaign.

But the West Midlanders had no choice but to dismiss him in November after he oversaw a dismal start to the ongoing season with the club picking up just two points from their opening 10 games.

If Nottingham Forest confirm Perreira’s appointment, he will become the club’s fourth manager of the season, following the ill-fated spells of Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche.

The Tricky Trees currently occupy 17th place on the table with 27 points from 26 matches, hovering just one position above the relegation zone.

Nottingham Forest believe that Perreira will be able to guide the club towards Premier League survival, just as he did with Wolves last season.
