Nigeria’s Falconets will step into a crucial showdown on Saturday when they welcome Senegal to Abeokuta in the first leg of their third-round qualifier for the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, footynaija.com reports.
With a place at the finals in Poland edging closer, the Falconets are eager to make home advantage count at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex before next week’s return fixture in Dakar decides the tie.
Both teams arrive in strong form. Nigeria cruised past Rwanda in the previous round, winning 5-0 on aggregate, while Senegal booked their place with a commanding victory over Algeria, setting up a fascinating West African contest.

Head coach Moses Aduku has insisted his players are fully prepared for the challenge after an intense training camp.
“The players are fit, focused, and ready. We have worked very hard in camp, and we approach every match with the seriousness of a final to maintain the right mentality and match sharpness,” he said.
Aduku also revealed that the team has received a fitness boost, with two players returning gradually after minor knocks and another now fully recovered from illness. He believes a strong turnout from fans could make a key difference.
Governor Dapo Abiodun has approved free entry at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Abeokuta, for the Nigeria Falconets’ FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Senegal.
“The support of our fans will be very important to us, especially playing at home. It gives the players extra confidence and motivation,” coach Aduku added.
Senegal, chasing a first-ever appearance at the U20 Women’s World Cup, will arrive in Nigeria full of belief. Yet the Falconets’ history and recent performance underline their pedigree at this level.
Saturday’s result will shape the direction of the tie, with everything to be decided in Dakar on 14 February.
