Simba SC have opened discussions over a possible move for Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, as the Tanzanian giants look to strengthen their squad ahead of the next phase of the season, Footynaija.com reports.

The Dar es Salaam-based club have identified the Nigerian international as a leading option in goal, with talks understood to be at an early stage.

Nwabali is currently on the books of Chippa United, where he has been a regular starter since joining the Eastern Cape side in 2022. The Port Harcourt-born shot stopper remains under contract, with his deal running into June 2026.

The 29-year-old’s profile has grown over the years, with further attention coming from his involvement in the World Cup qualifiers and the Africa Cup of Nations. The Super Eagles reached the semi-final of the continental tournament and went on to finish third in Morocco.

As confirmed in a report by Punch Sports Extra, Simba’s move is part of wider plans to firm up the team’s core for league and continental action, with urgency added by Camara’s knee problem. The injury led the club to secure Mahamadou Tanja Kassila from Niger’s AS FAN as a short-term solution.

Kassila’s arrival has left Simba reviewing their foreign player slots, with Camara at risk of being removed from the squad list. The development has unsettled the Guinea international, who has requested the cancellation of the remaining six months on his contract.

The Dar es Salaam outfit are expected to face competition should they formalise their approach. Nwabali has been linked in recent months with sides in North Africa and the Middle East, following his AFCON showing and performances in the Premier Soccer League.
