Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle says Nigeria will give everything when they meet hosts Morocco in the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Footynaija.com reports.
Nigeria trade tackles with Morocco inside the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium on Wednesday with the winner assured of a place in the final of the tournament.
Despite not being given much of a chance to reach this stage, Chelle-led Super Eagles have won all their five games played to emerge the in-form team in Morocco.
However, while Nigeria have defeated tough North African foes in Tunisia and Algeria, the Super Eagles will start as underdogs against Morocco in Rabat. The hosts are also unbeaten, having retain the core of the team that reached the semifinals of the FIFA World Cup in 2022.
Chelle admits the Atlas Lions present a different challenge for his side but the Malian tactician insists the Super Eagles will target a win against the Moroccans.
“Algeria was the biggest test,” Chelle said at his pre-match press conference.
“Morocco is the biggest test. Every game is the biggest test for this team because the expectation is so big.
“We are ready for this game, for all of the games that we play in this tournament. We try to play every game like the last and we will give everything as we have given everything.
“I have to check my players, how they are physically because you know we play three days before. We have to rest and after I will judge how is my team and then we can talk about the game plan.”
Nigeria reached the final of the 2023 AFCON before losing to hosts Cote d’Ivoire. The Super Eagles will be keen to avoid a repeat as the three-time African champions target a first continental crown since 2013.
