The Super Eagles of Nigeria delivered a commanding performance in their final Group C clash of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, securing a comfortable 3-1 win over Uganda at the Complexe Sportif de Fes, Footynaija.com reports.
Raphael Onyedika and Paul Onuachu led the charge as Nigeria maintained top spot in the group, courtesy of a flawless group stage campaign that saw them take all nine points available.
After an impressive game, here’s how each Super Eagle fared against the Cranes.
Francis Uzoho: GK – 6.6
Coming into the starting XI in place of Stanley Nwabali, Uzoho was largely untroubled. He made a few important interventions but unfortunately couldn’t do anything to prevent Uganda’s consolation strike.
Ryan Alebiosu: 7.0
The Blackburn Rovers defender was making his official debut for the Super Eagles and he made sure to give a good account of himself. Alebiosu’s contributions on both ends of the pitch was impressive to watch.
Igoh Ogbu: CB – 7.1
Also making his first start of the tournament, Ogbu marshalled the defence well, winning aerial duels and making crucial interceptions to keep Uganda’s attackers at bay.
Calvin Bassey: CB – 6.7
Bassey played only the first half but he continued his trend of consistent performances at this tournament. He was solid in defence and provided a steady presence at the heart of the backline.
Bruno Onyemaechi: LB – 7.1
Defensively sound and disciplined, Onyemaechi was reliable on his flank, helping Nigeria maintain width and balance.
Raphael Onyedika: MF – 9.0
The standout performer of the game, Onyedika capped off an impressive midfield display with a couple of well taken goals to establish Nigeria’s dominance in the second half.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru: MF – 7.6
Dele-Bashiru controlled the middle of the park with composure, linking play effectively and providing the assist for Onuachu’s opener midway into the first half.
Samuel Chukwueze: RW – 8.9
The Fulham winger was in the mood for today’s game and his performance displayed as much. Chukwueze caused constant problems for the Ugandan defence and played a key role in both of Onyedika’s goals.
Moses Simon: LM – 7.6
Simon was the Super Eagles’ most dangerous attacking outlet for large spells in the game. Threatening down the left flank, he combined well with teammates and tested the Ugandan defence with several mazing runs into the box. The Paris FC star could’ve easily bagged an assist on another day.
Victor Osimhen: FW – 7.3
Given the captain’s arm band for today’s match, Osimhen showed another side of his game, working tirelessly up front, creating chances and linking up nicely with Onuachu. It was a complete skipper’s performance from the 27-year-old striker.
Paul Onuachu: FW – 7.7
Introduced into the starting XI for today’s game, the towering striker opened the scoring with a clinical finish in the first half. Onuachu consistently posed a danger in the box, making himself a constant aerial threat.
