Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has explained that the Reds are biding their time in the summer transfer market in order to make the right choice in terms of potential additions to their ranks, Soccernet.football reports.
Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager in June after the German’s departure following nearly nine successful years at Anfield. Alongside the managerial change, there have also been changes behind the scenes, with Richard Hughes taking over as the club’s new sporting director.
However, the senior squad has seen little change with the Reds yet to sign a single player during the current transfer window, a lack of activity which contrasts sharply with previous windows as Liverpool forked out £150m on incomings last summer alone.

Speaking to the press ahead of Liverpool’s pre-season match against Real Betis, Slot addressed fan concerns about the club’s inactivity in the transfer market, stating that he expects a few new players to join the squad soon.
“If you inherit a team that’s really good, it’s not so easy to find players who are even higher especially because those ones need to be available as well. Richard more than me is working really hard on that. He keeps me updated on that,” said Slot.
“If there’s any news on that we will come to you. We already have a good team, but it would be a surprise for all of us if we don’t bring any player in. That will probably happen in the end. For now, we’re just waiting for the players to come back and the right ones to sign.”
Liverpool have been strongly linked with a number of players in recent weeks, including Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo, former Juventus midfielder cum free agent Adrien Rabiot, and RB Leipzig’s talented defender Mohamed Simakan.
