Club Brugge have confirmed that Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika has been selected for the Super Eagles squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Footynaija.com reports.
The announcement comes ahead of head coach Eric Chelle’s official unveiling of his final 28-man list for the tournament.
Onyedika, who debuted for Nigeria in 2022, has earned 17 caps and will be attending his second major competition after being part of the team that reached the final at AFCON 2023. He only featured once in that tournament, coming on for the final 27 minutes against Guinea-Bissau, but his strong club form continues to push him into national-team contention.

This season, the 24-year-old has played 22 matches for Club Brugge, including three in the UEFA Champions League, with two goals and one assist. Despite this consistency, he remains behind Wilfred Ndidi and Frank Onyeka in Chelle’s preferred midfield order.
Several regular names are expected in Chelle’s final squad, including defenders Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and Zaidu Sanusi. Captain William Troost-Ekong recently retired from international football and will not take part.
In goal, Nigeria face uncertainty with first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali reportedly a major doubt due to injury. Maduka Okoye could be restored as the new No. 1 if required.
Attackers Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Moses Simon, and Samuel Chukwueze headline the forward options, while others such as Paul Onuachu, Akor Adams, Terem Moffi, and Rafiu Durosinmi wait to see if they secure a spot.
Nigeria begin their AFCON campaign against Tanzania on December 23.
