Former Nigerian midfielder Garba Lawal is backing the Super Eagles cruise through the upcoming CAF World Cup play-offs after seeing Eric Chelle’s latest squad selection, Footynaija.com reports.
On Saturday, November 8, Chelle unveiled a strong 24-man Super Eagles squad to face Gabon in the play-off semi-final set for Thursday, November 13, in Rabat, Morocco.
Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon and Akor Adams, all key players in the emphatic win over Benin that secured Nigeria’s play-off spot, keep their place in the latest squad, and Lawal believes the assembled team has what it takes to finish the job.
What Garba Lawal said

“I think the list is okay, and we have the quality of players that can help us qualify for the intercontinental playoffs,” the former Roda JC midfielder said in an interview with Footy-Africa.
“Since the huge win over Benin, I have had the confidence that the boys will make it, as you can see the fire and desire in their eyes. We have been talking to them and encouraging them to focus on the journey ahead, and we are praying that all of them are fit and ready to go.
“We missed the last World Cup, and I do not want us to miss this one, but the players also know this and want to play at the World Cup next year. With this squad, Chelle has done well, and I believe that we will win in Morocco next week and qualify for the next stage.”
One notable absentee from Chelle’s latest selection is Trabzonspor striker Paul Onuachu, who has been in superb scoring form in the Turkish Super Lig this season.
