Paul Onuachu produced the perfect response to his latest Super Eagles snub after scoring for Trabzonspor in their 1-1 draw with Alanyaspor on Saturday, Footynaija.com reports.
Trabzsonspor came into the clash at Papara Park full of confidence after a strong start to the campaign, and it didn’t take long for Onuachu to make his mark.
Leading the line with his usual presence, the 31-year-old wasted no time getting involved, testing the Alanyaspor goalkeeper twice inside the opening ten minutes before finally breaking through.
In the 15th minute, Onuachu produced a moment of magic after skillfully controlling Mustafa Eskihellac’s pass to outfox his markers before bundling the ball beyond the onrushing keeper to give Trabzonspor the lead.
It seemed like Onuachu’s goal was going to be the match-winner for the majority of the game but Trabzonspor’s defence eventually gave way, allowing Romanian winger Ianis Hagi to draw the visitors level with less than 15 minutes left.

Onuachu’s goal was his seventh league goal in eleven appearances, reinforcing his status as Trabzonspor’s go-to man in front of goal and maintaining his place at the summit of the Super Lig top scorers’ chart.
But while he continues to deliver week in week out in Turkey, the goals haven’t been enough to convince Super Eagles boss Eric Chelle to hand the towering striker a call-up to the Nigeria national team.
Onuachu, who last featured for Nigeria in June 2024, has now been overlooked for all of this season’s international windows despite his form, with Chelle preferring Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen, Wolves’ Tolu Arokodare and Sevilla’s Akor Adams as the Super Eagles’ striking options for the upcoming World Cup playoffs.
