Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika is optimistic about his readiness ahead of Club Brugge’s crucial UEFA Champions League encounter with Barcelona, following his recent return from injury, Footynaija.com reports.
Onyedika sidelined for five weeks after suffering a hamstring injury during a Belgian Pro League fixture against Westerlo in late September.
His absence was felt by Brugge, but his return on Saturday offered a timely boost as he came off the bench to help secure a hard-fought 2-1 win over FCV Dender.

With that victory in the bag, Club Brugge now turn their attention to a daunting challenge against Spanish giants Barcelona, last season’s semifinalists, who visit the Jan Breydelstadion on Wednesday, November 5.
Speaking after the game against Dender, Onyedika expressed satisfaction with his return to action while emphasizing his determination to be fully ready for the midweek test.

“I’m missing some match practice now, but that short half-hour (against Dender) has given me confidence that I’ll be ready for the match against Barcelona next Wednesday,” Onyedika said.
“It’s clear to me that it won’t be an easy task again next Wednesday, but nevertheless, everyone here is looking forward to it, that’s a fact. We know what’s coming, but we can’t be afraid.”

Onyedika’s return adds much-needed steel to Club Brugge’s midfield as they look to build on their domestic momentum and test themselves against one of Europe’s most formidable sides.
The Nigerian’s last appearance in the Champions League yielded a goal in that 4-1 thrashing of Monaco on matchday 1 of the ongoing league phase. His composure and energy could prove vital as Brugge aim to make a statement against the Blaugrana.
