Spanish side Sevilla are reportedly considering a January move for Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar as they seek to reinforce their forward line midway through the La Liga season, Footynaija.com reports.

According to reports from Vamos Mi Sevilla, the Andalusian club are weighing up the possibility of signing the Real Sociedad forward to increase competition for places alongside fellow Nigerian Akor Adams and Isaac Romero.

While Adams and Romero have both contributed goals this term, Sevilla are said to be concerned about their inconsistency in front of goal. Adams has two goals and one assist in seven league appearances, while Romero has found the net three times in eight games.

Sadiq, meanwhile, has endured a frustrating campaign at Real Sociedad, featuring only twice off the bench. The 28-year-old striker, once regarded among the most exciting forwards in Spain, has struggled to recapture his form since suffering a serious knee injury three years ago.

The former AS Roma star showed flashes of his old self during a loan spell at Valencia last season, scoring five times in 16 league games, but a permanent deal failed to materialise.

With Sociedad open to a sale and Sadiq still under contract until 2028, Sevilla’s interest could offer him the fresh start he has been waiting for.

If the transfer goes through, Sadiq would become the third Nigerian in Sevilla’s squad, joining Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke.
