Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre has shown her strength off the pitch once again, teaming up with Lina Boussaha to hit back at a sexist comment on social media, Footynaija.com reports.
Ashleigh Plumptre and Lina Boussaha are quickly becoming a standout duo in the Saudi Women’s Premier League. Lining up together for Al-Ittihad, the pair have been turning heads with their strong performances.
Plumptre, Super Falcons centre-back, has been on fire since joining Saudi club Al-Ittihad in 2023. Famous for her tough defending and knack for getting involved in goals, she has played a part in many goals and assists.
Off the pitch, both women recently showed another kind of strength. A fan tried to mock them online, saying they belonged “in the kitchen, not on the football field.”
However, Plumptre shut it down with style, replying that Boussaha is actually “an incredible baker.”
Boussaha didn’t miss a beat, adding, “Exactly… we cook in the kitchen & on the field.”
Just last week, the Nigerian grabbed two assists in a 3-0 win over Eastern Flames, proving once again she’s just as dangerous going forward as she is at the back.
On the other hand, Boussaha, the French-born Algerian international, has hit the ground running since joining Al-Ittihad from Al-Nassr.
A product of PSG’s academy, she brings flair and creativity to the midfield, perfectly balancing Plumptre’s strength and drive from the back.
The pair have been combining well in recent matches, helping Al-Ittihad stay competitive in a league that is attracting more global attention every season.
