Galatasaray have been handed a major boost as Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen made his return to training two weeks after suffering an ankle injury while away on international duty, Footynaija.com reports.
Osimhen picked up the injury during Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo earlier this month. The setback forced him to leave the Super Eagles camp early and return to Istanbul for further treatment.
Upon his return to the Turkish capital, medical checks revealed a moderate strain to his ankle ligaments, and the club has been managing his recovery and return to full fitness.

Since suffering the setback, the 26-year-old forward has missed Galatasaray’s last two matches, including a Super Lig fixture against Eyupspor and a UEFA Champions League group stage clash with Eintracht Frankfurt.
On Sunday however, Galatasaray shared pictures of Osimhen taking part in training drills with his teammates ahead of Monday’s league clash against Konyaspor at Rams Park. According to Turkish outlet Ajansspor, the striker completed some sessions with the squad before doing individual work.
Despite his progress, Osimhen is not expected to feature against Konyaspor, as the medical staff and head coach Okan Buruk are keen to avoid rushing his comeback. The Turkish champions have tentatively set September 30 as his potential return date, with hopes he will be available for their crucial Champions League encounter against Liverpool.
Osimhen’s return would provide a significant boost to Galatasaray’s attack as they aim to defend their Super Lig crown and give a significant account of themselves among Europe’s biggest teams in the UEFA Champions League.
