Werder Bremen defender Felix Agu is looking forward to making his first competitive appearance in Super Eagles colours when Nigeria welcome Rwanda to the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday, Footynaija.com reports.

Agu, who was born in Germany and represented the European heavyweights at youth level switched his international allegiance to Nigeria earlier this year.

Not long after pledging his international future to the Super Eagles, the versatile defender received his first call-up to the senior national team in May and contributed to Nigeria’s triumph at the 2025 Unity Cup.

Now, Agu is relishing the opportunity to potentially make his first appearance in a competitive game for the Super Eagles when they lock horns with the Amavubi of Rwanda in a must-win qualification match.

“I’m really excited to be part of this team. It has been a wonderful experience for me. The guys have helped me settle down,” Agu told Complete Sport.

“We had a good time together at the Unity Cup, we have a lot of quality in the team, quality players, and can do great things together.

“We are working hard for the upcoming games, we want to win because it is important for us. It will be great to play my first competitive game for Nigeria.”

Felix Agu will have to fight off competition from the like of Bruno Onyemaechi and potentially Ola Aina if he wants to nail down a spot in Eric Chelle’s starting XI.

In the event that he is unable to break into the starting XI, we still expect the Werder Bremen full-back to make some sort of contribution as the Super Eagles go in search of two crucial victories against Rwanda and South Africa.
