Nottingham Forest have announced the departure of 27-year-old Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Dennis, with both parties deciding to bring an end to their three-year association following the mutual termination of the player’s contract, Footynaija.com reports.

Dennis became a Nottingham Forest player in the summer of 2022, sealing a huge move to The City Ground after impressing at Watford. However, the Nigerian forward never really hit the ground running at Forest.

He failed to meet expectations at The City Ground, managing a meagre two-goal tally in 25 appearances during his debut season with the Tricky Trees. It is worthy to note that he made only nine starts and the remainder were substitute appearances.

Following that disappointing debut season, the rest of his time at Forest was characterized by loan spells, with stints at Istanbul Basaksehir, Watford and Blackburn Rovers.

Unable to regain his rhythm during any of those loan spells or claw his way back into favour at Nottingham Forest, both player and club have agreed to cut ties for good. Forest confirmed this development with a statement on their official website.

“Nottingham Forest can confirm that Emmanuel Dennis has left the Club following the mutual termination of his contract.

“Dennis joined Forest from Watford in August 2022 and went on to make 25 appearances for the Reds.

“The 27-year-old spent time on loan at İstanbul Başakşehir and Watford during the 2023/24 season, spending the second half of the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Blackburn Rovers.

“We wish Emmanuel well for the future.”

Dennis, reported to be on the radar of Italian clubs, is now a free agent and retains the liberty to join any club of his choosing, even after the close of the summer transfer window.
