Besiktas head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had some very nice words for Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi while addressing reporters ahead of his side’s UEFA Europa Conference League tie against Lausanne, Footynaija.com reports.
Previously on opposing sides during their shared time in the English Premier League, Ndidi and Solskjaer now find themselves on the same side following the Nigeria international’s departure from Leicester City this summer.
Despite barely spending a couple of weeks at Besiktas, Solskjaer wasted no time in handing Ndidi his debut for the Black Eagles. The former Genk midfielder went straight into the starting XI and helped his team to a deserved 2-1 victory against Eyuspor in matchday 2 of the Turkish Super Lig.

Ahead of their Conference League clash against Lausanne, Ndidi appeared alongside Solskjaer to address reporters in a routine pre-match presser and the former Manchester United boss took advantage of the opportunity to extol the qualities of his new midfield general.
“First, I want to talk about Wilfred,” Solskjaer said, per quotes from Complete Sports.
“He’s a very professional player and also a good person. He’s capable of filling some of our gaps, he’s a leader.
“I’m delighted we signed him. I know he’ll contribute greatly in the coming months and years. So, I’m delighted we brought in and signed Wilfred.”
For his part, Ndidi revealed that he’s fully prepared and excited ahead of the upcoming clash against Lausanne, stressing that his adaptation to the team is progressing smoothly. He credited his coach and teammates for their strong support during this period of transition.
